I (Frédéric Hanse) am an agricultural engineer who made his career in wine and then decided to buy a vineyard in the Loire valley and become an independent winegrower (2013). Domaine La Guillaumerie is on 20 hectares of green and ochre shalestone hillside in the Loire Valley. This is ideal terroir for the Chenin and Cabernet Franc grape varieties. The vineyard is grassed over and integrated vineyard practices are used. The harvest is done manually, a pains-taking elimination process makes sure the grapes reach the winery at their optimum ripeness. The wine is aged in either stainless steel tanks or barrels depending on the blend. The domain offers a large range of still wines from Anjou(red, white & rosé), côteaux du Layon (sweet) and sparkling Crémant de Loire(white & rosé) due to individual plot vinification. The oak tree on the new labels can actually be found in the middle of the vineyard. We are currently focused on the export market.
