Tasty Region

A REGION OF MANY FACES,

WHERE LIFE IS GOOD

Vague

The Pays de la Loire region is one of 13 regions in mainland France, in the west of the country between Brittany, Greater Paris, and Nouvelle Aquitaine. This young and dynamic region boasts 3.8 million inhabitants and 5 departments (Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Sarthe, and Vendée), with more than 1200 communes and 7 cities and large towns (Nantes, Saint-Nazaire, Angers, Cholet, Le Mans, Laval, and La Roche-sur-Yon). Ideally located, it enjoys a 450 km coastline and a thriving economy (industry, agriculture, tourism, sailing, aeronautics, and more), with a quality of life, education, research and development, and infrastructure to match.

Real quality of life

Our region is an exceptional place to live. It offers a great diversity of landscapes and often spectacular nature. With the Atlantic coast and its beaches and wild shores, almost 40 rivers (including the royal Loire), woods and valleys, there is a landscape for everybody.

The region’s history, culture, and food and drink also play a major role, and are a source of pride and well-being for local people. Tourists flock to the region every year to see the unique architecture, the remarkable monuments (which led to UNESCO making the Loire Valley a world heritage region), and thriving food and drink scene, spurred by the diverse and excellent produce grown and reared in the area.

Unrivalled economic potential

Our region is extremely dynamic, and an attractive option for people and businesses. In terms of jobs, it is the number one region in France, with 96% of local people saying that it is a good place to work. Companies enjoy an exceptionally rich fabric of private and public organisations, ensuring that they can grow to their full potential.

The biggest sectors in the region are agriculture and fishing, agrifood, naval, and aeronautics. Textiles, luxury goods, and electronics are also well represented. Also, tourism plays an important role along the coast.

Diversity and quality

From sparkling wines to fresh fish and farmed goods, the Pays de la Loire region offers exceptional variety in the food and drink grown and produced here.

The various industries are represented both by major companies and local producers. Meat and dairy farms also enjoy a privileged status around the country and further afield: it is the number one region for cattle, and the second largest region for milk production.

Positive infrastructure

The region has the infrastructure it needs to support this quality of life and economic growth. There is an international airport (Nantes), the largest maritime port on the Atlantic coast (Nantes Saint Nazaire), a dense and highly active rail network (20 return trips to Paris every day), and almost 700 km of motorway, making it easy to connect to the world beyond our borders.

A TERRITORY AND COMPANIES SUPPORTED BY THE REGIONAL COUNCIL OF PAYS DE LA LOIRE

In order to support regional agri-food and wine companies in their international development, the Pays de la Loire Region has commissioned Food’Loire to set up this promotion platform. TastyLoire thus benefits from funding from the Pays de la Loire Region.

Ideally located, it enjoys a 450 km coastline and a thriving economy (industry, agriculture, tourism, sailing, aeronautics, and more)
