Description
Roundness, suppleness, prolonged aging of 50 months on lees
Terroir: Clos de l’Alouette is a five-hectare walled vineyard plot that has been part of the estate since 1996. It has sandy soil on micaschist bedrock and is among the earliest ripening plots of the Sèvre et Maine area. Winemaking methods: This wine is made from grapes selected from our Clos de l’Alouette plot. It is fermented separately and kept on lees for 50 months. After bâtonnage (lees stirring), which is performed frequently at first and then more occasionally as time goes on, the wine kept in underground vats which are traditional in the Nantais region. This ageing enriches the wine, making it rounder, suppler and more structured, as well as longer on the palate. Bottling: The wine is racked directly off its fermentation lees. Tasting impressions: Appearance: Pale lemon-gold colour. Nose: Highly aromatic nose combining floral aromas with notes of white fruits (pears) and dried fruits (hazelnuts). Palate: This wine is packed with fruity flavours and has a very round mouthfeel and a supple finish. Suggested food pairings: Ideal served as an aperitif thanks to its aromatic character, but also goes well with fish, white meats in sauce and some cheeses. Ageing recommendations: Can be kept for up to 10 years in your cellar. With age it develops a surprising bouquet of candied and dried fruits.
